Housing Choices Abound Here
Published Jan 06, 2009

Belmar’s housing developments include the Alexan Belmar Apartments.

The diversity of lifestyle possibilities in Jefferson County is appealing, with residents having the options to enjoy urban, mountain or suburban living.

For fans of urban living, the choices include residing in Olde Town Arvada, downtown Golden and Lakewood’s Belmar development.

“If you want to live in the central area of downtown Belmar, prices there can range from the high $100,000s to more than $1 million for penthouse condominiums,” says Lincoln Gill, chairman of the Jefferson County Association of Realtors. “Then if you go out a little ways from the downtown district, prices are from the mid-$100,000s to around $350,000.”

In Golden, Gill says some new condominium projects in the downtown district are attracting the attention of quite a few people. “Those condo units will be going for $300,000 and up, and there is quite a buzz about them,” he says. “Expect downtown Golden to see a spike in population in the near future.”

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH
As for mountain living, Gill says Evergreen and Genesee offer a number of housing options, with beautiful views included at no extra charge.

“Evergreen is a charming small town where people can live near a lake, plus have nice homes on five or 10 acres,” he says. “As for Genesee, not only is it picturesque but it’s ideal for people who want an easy commute to Denver. It is easily accessible to Interstate 70.”

People who like the mountains also can live along the U.S. 285 corridor, where new shopping complexes have recently been constructed. “Residents can get a home and an acre of property along U.S. 285 for $250,000 and up,” Gill says. “Many people are moving to Jefferson County these days, and some are attracted to the mountains as well as being close to a major city.”

SOLTERRA TAKES SHAPE
For those who opt for a suburban type of lifestyle, there is especially good news in Lakewood. A new community called Solterra is under development, and Gill says the neighborhood will be one of the nicest in all of Colorado.

“A total of 1,400 homes on 280 acres will ultimately be constructed, ranging in price from patio homes that start in the mid-$500,000s to single-family homes that will be $2 million and up,” he says. “It is an incredible development along Alameda Parkway near C-470 that is worth an estimated half-billion dollars.”

Solterra is a short drive from the Denver Federal Center as well as Belmar and Red Rocks Park, and it’s less than an hour’s drive from skiing in the Rockies.

“Whether it’s Solterra, mountain living or a downtown condo in Golden, Jefferson County is an attractive place to call home,” Gill says. “I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.”
