Wheat Ridge Firm Splices into Fiber Optics Market
Published Apr 16, 2005
Advanced Fiber Response is a company in the trenches of telecommunications, making sure the light of fiber optics continues to shine and expand on everything from desktop computers to cable television sets to telephones to traffic lights.
The Wheat Ridge business specializes in fiber optic splicing, testing, documentation and emergency restoration.
“Our work is really invisible to the public because most fiber optic line is hidden underground,” says Dick Hall, president of Advanced Fiber Response.
It’s when a customer’s Internet service goes down or a new office building needs phone service that companies like Hall’s are best appreciated.
“We do some repair and placement but the vast majority of our work is splicing and testing,” Hall says. “With more and more things going through fiber optics, it’s a growth area that’s not going away in the foreseeable future.”
The son of a phone company worker, Hall remembers first becoming intrigued with fiber optics while reading about the developing technology in high school. He worked 17 years as a technician for Colorado telephone and cable companies before becoming a fiber optic technician in Englewood, Co.
In 1998, he launched Advanced Fiber Response, which serves primarily Colorado but also has provided services in a dozen other states.
